Photography Class 1st Session

I signed up to be in a photography class that a friend of mine is teaching. The first assignment is to take pictures in Rule Of Thirds. Which means that "an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections ".

I was trying to choose another picture than the one that I already posted earlier this week but I love the look in Hannah's eyes. She is splashing with purpose!

Taken with a Nikon D3000

Focal Length: 48mm
Shutter Speed: 1/100
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 400

This is a picture of a beautiful house that I get to look at in my neighborhood when I go for walks and runs.

Taken with a Nikon D3000
Focal Length: 63mm
Shutter Speed: 1/500
Aperture: f/5.3
ISO: 180

Although I don't think Jonathan likes this, I think he looks very handsome and I love the angle shot that I got from it.

Taken with a Nikon D3000
Focal Length: 35mm
Shutter Speed: 1/250
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 100

Fun with Hammering and Discs

My latest and greatest! I am having lots of fun using my brass and copper discs. I hammered, oxidized and then hand-buffed them to bring out the texture of the metal, which gives it an antique look. Feel free to buy a pair for yourself or someone close to you for Valentine's Day.

Build Strong

This is the theme for our church this year. BUILD STRONG.
It comes from Isaiah 57:14
14 And it will be said:
"Build up, build up, prepare the road!
Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people."

Our church is awesome! Every year our Pastor, Dr. David Anderson has a theme verse for the ministry year that he feels that God has given him to teach his church. There are so many obstacles in our way that keep us from connecting with God. From food, tv, computer, money, work, etc. these things truly get in the way of our personal relationship with God. So, as a prayer for the people of our church, Bridgeway Community Church, we want God to remove these obstacles to grow deeper in our walk. I am listing this on Etsy and if it is bought, the profits will go straight to Bridgeway because they are such an awesome church and I want to support them.

Her First House

Almost anytime that I mention, "Would you like to paint, Hannah?"..the immediate answer is "YES!". So, while Daddy was at church last night and I had another hour before bedtime we painted. I taught her how to make a house by drawing it first and she copied me. I think, and of course I am partial, it came out pretty nice. The only difference is the smoke coming out of my chimney. She was set against having smoke coming out of her chimney. I am sure you can guess which one is which. :-) And she added a rainbow which was extra credit.

My Dear Magic Bullet

I have been lost without my Magic Bullet! The rubber thing on the bottom of the blade that connects to the base keeps getting shredded by the base. I went through 3 directly from Magic Bullet and then Jonathan bought 2 through eBay and those are shredded. I have been trying to not buy more because I was frustrated by having to replace it again. It wasn't that much money. I got two replacement blades for under $20, which included shipping.

I have been using my food processor and it works for certain things, like salsa and hummus. That is all I use it for. But the Bullet is great for most things and I should have it by next week!! It is so easy to use and to clean. I can start making my smoothies again with lots of healthy stuff. Peanut butter is super thick and I have found the magic bullet to work with even that. So, there is my protein!

I hope to post some recipes soon!!

Some Serious Splashing Going On

I signed up to participate in "Photography School" on another blog. So, on my walk I was trying to focus on following the guidelines for the class project. I'm not sure if I got it during this session but I did capture Hannah having a blast with puddles.

Announcement: This is my one and only blog from now.

I have another blog that I haven't posted in a WHOLE YEAR! It was dedicated to postings on my daughter who is now four. But when I discovered Facebook and how easy it is to post pictures I decided to go with that. But I enjoy blogs because the people that really want to read about your life will most likely go to your blog and you can share stories that go along with the picures...or you don't even have to post pictures. So, on that note I am going to use this blog to post my life with my daughter and family included. "Always Creating Something" sums up me.

In this picture I had lots of fun playing with my iMac's program Aperture. I have had this program for two years and just started using it and look what I can do!!! This was a full colored picture that I manipulated colors and tones to take away all of the colors except for Hannah's accessories.

Faith Hope Love

This is my current series right now (Faith Hope Love). I made two Jewelry pieces with this theme. I hope to make some more soon. About 6 month I decided to finally purchase letter stamps and it has taken me this long to actually make something. It takes a little getting used to because lining up the stamps (I'm OCD and a symmetrical person) and keeping the stamp perfectly still is challenging. But now that I have had some practice this opens a whole new world to jewelry making. If there is something that you have in mind to have on a bracelet or necklace, let me know and I will make something for you!!!
