Photography Class 1st Session

I signed up to be in a photography class that a friend of mine is teaching. The first assignment is to take pictures in Rule Of Thirds. Which means that "an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections ".

I was trying to choose another picture than the one that I already posted earlier this week but I love the look in Hannah's eyes. She is splashing with purpose!

Taken with a Nikon D3000

Focal Length: 48mm
Shutter Speed: 1/100
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 400

This is a picture of a beautiful house that I get to look at in my neighborhood when I go for walks and runs.

Taken with a Nikon D3000
Focal Length: 63mm
Shutter Speed: 1/500
Aperture: f/5.3
ISO: 180

Although I don't think Jonathan likes this, I think he looks very handsome and I love the angle shot that I got from it.

Taken with a Nikon D3000
Focal Length: 35mm
Shutter Speed: 1/250
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 100

  1. LOVE that shot of Hannah! A good one to use for the Rule of Thirds. Plus, the blur in her stomping foot combined with the ripples in the water is great!

  2. Hey Alyssa... nice camera... and pictures!

I see you figured out how to get the "information" about each picture. I was going to tell you that you don't really have to know what all those things are to post them... we can look like we know what we're doing, even when we don't!

It'll be fun learning how to use our cameras better together through these assignments. :)
